Hi there, I'm Catriona, an interior designer based in Haarlem, where I live with my husband and our toddler

Originally from London, I’ve lived in the Netherlands for eight years, spending the majority of those managing product and digital design teams for clients like KLM, Adidas, Ahold Delhaize, and Rituals. But a few years ago I felt at a bit of a crossroads both professionally and personally - I’d always dreamed of pursuing interior design, so I took the leap and retrained at the British College of Interior Design.

Every space that I work on is an opportunity to blend creativity with problem-solving, whilst incorporating a mix of "High & Low" into my designs - balancing investment pieces with more accessible finds to make a space feel curated as opposed to precious. I want to bring both my and my clients' vision to life with thoughtful, interesting and timeless designs that honour and support how they really live (rather than a design led fantasy life they might wish they had!). Read more about my approach to design below.

I know how overwhelming it can feel to embark on a renovation or redecoration journey, but it doesn’t have to be. Whether you’re starting with a blank slate or trying to make sense of your ideas and what you've already got, I would love to get to know your project a bit more and see what we can create together.

style and feeling

I believe it’s important that our tastes align - or that you’re at least open to exploring new ideas! My interiors style blends Art Deco, European, and Asian influences, and I relish the challenge of bringing (for instance) bolder, Asian or 1930s vintage pieces into harmony with more traditional settings.  While I often favour a neutral base (never pure white, and sometimes a soft green or blue, or earthy yellow), I love adding depth through bolder jewel tones, beautiful wallpapers, and contrast trim. Thoughtfully chosen vintage pieces, modern furnishings, and Art Deco-inspired brass or gold lighting help to inspire joy when entering your space. To me, a beautiful home is born out of the details, and should make you smile every time you look at it!

Approach to design

I will always take a realistic view of whatʼs possible in your space, focussing on getting the very best out of what you already have whilst balancing that practicality with a rich, beautifully tailored aesthetic. I believe in the power of colour, pattern, and texture to bring a home to life and make you feel excited to be in it, and I enjoy layering these elements thoughtfully to create rooms that feel both cohesive and full of character. I will always incorporate an element of surprise and contrast. I think good design is also about knowing where to splurge for impact and where to be clever with budget friendly choices.
